Over the weekend all three groups descended upon Castlerigg Manor in Keswick for a weekend based around the theme of ‘Understanding’. This was chosen as the YCW group who ran the weekend believed that young people themselves struggle to understand the issues affecting their peers. These issues could be as simple as saying the wrong thing to the wrong person, to the most difficult of issues such as how poverty can affect a young persons ability to experience new things and further themselves in their own personal development.

‘This weekend has been fantastic, everything we did was based around the theme of understanding, from the opening workshop on the Friday night to the mass on the Saturday evening. Each workshop focused on a different perspective to understand situations and experiences. One highlighted how just our words can have a very strong effect on a person’s self-esteem and how they influence the way that person then goes on to interact with others.’
